About Kay Kelly Anderson |

Kay Kelly Anderson is a master’s level licensed mental health therapist and a licensed marriage and family therapist who has worked in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings since receiving her degree in 1988. Currently in private practice, Kay added Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy to her more traditional mental health services in 2003 after discovering that horses can truly assist those who interact with them to gain awareness and acceptance beyond what is available in traditional counseling settings. Kay has post graduate training in the treatment of attention deficit disordered children and she is a certified treatment provider for victims of sexual crimes. Throughout her career Kay has specialized in the treatment of children and families with a specific focus in treatment of abuse survivors and victim issues.
Horses are a part of Kay’s heritage and she has been involved in the horse industry throughout her life in many different ways. After the High School Rodeo finals, she became one of the first female jockeys on the northwest circuit, then worked exercising and training race horses. Currently, she and her husband are involved in raising and training registered quarter horses for rodeo and other competitive horse events. Kay’s involvement in the 4-H Horse Program has been marked with many memorable achievements, including a national award and receiving the Lewis County Leader of the Year award in 2005.
Kay is a member of NARHA and EFHMA. She is EAGALA level 1 certified. She has given riding lessons for over 20 years and has memberships with professional equine associations such as ARIA, BRN4D, NBHA, and AQHA. She is also a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association.
Kay has presented a variety of trainings and workshops on topics such as relationship education, treatment of child victims, and abuse prevention. She also provides consultation services and educational training for clinicians. |
