The process begins when you step on the property with the horses. From walking up to the horse, choosing your horse to working with the horse, you will be gaining valuable information to facilitate your growth.  The beautiful scenery of the Winchester Idaho area will create a background for your changes and breakthroughs as you participate in the daily retreat activities.

 

 

 

Participants in Equine Facilitated Therapy are led through horse related activities not designed to teach mastery of horsemanship skills, but with other goals such as mastering fears, learning new behavior patterns or dealing with emotional problems.

 

It is a strange mix of two worlds, the shrink and the cowboy. But if the optimum learning environment is respect mixed with a twinge of fear, Working with a 1200 pound animal with a mind of its own, would seem to create a unique learning environment.  Instead of thinking it over and talking about issues,  the dynamics are happening and being processed with an immediacy that is not possible in other more traditional forms of therapy.
